This is from a Japanese quilt magazine I purchased about 15 years ago (click for a larger pic). I bought it solely for this Momotaro applique quilt. At the time I thought I would make it if I ever had a son. But like so many other things, the quilt got added to "the list" - the list of projects that I will do someday when I have time. And ever since I started blogging, the list has grown exponentially. But it's always a good excuse for buying stuff. Because who can pass adding a good project to the list.
In case you've never heard the tale of Momotaro the peach boy, there's a cute illustrated version of it here. Also, this book was a popular version published in Hawaii in the early 70's. The illustrations in it are simply gorgeous. It is by far one of Buddy's favorite books.
ha! i have a pile of fabric sitting in the basement for my sons quilt, and he is almost four! not nearly as cute as peach boy though...

I think we all have projects that never came to fruition. I have two cowboys that I started for my sons about 2 years ago - and they are still in the bags half completed.

I LOVE the story of Momotaro! And the characters on the quilt are so perfect! How adorable! I'm betting you will finish this project! I especially love the peach and the pheasant!

That's a great book Myra! I especially love the cloud-like quilting in the sky part. It's a great thing to have in your some-day-project list.
