1) What is
the deadline to send the postcards by?
Please have
all 10 of your cards post marked by Saturday January 28,
2006. This swap is done on the honor system so please send your postcards out to everyone on your list and please send them on time. : )
2) What do I need to include on my postcards?
This is a New Years postcard swap so be sure to include the words "Happy New Years" (in any language) on the picture side of your postcard. Also 2006 is the zodiac Year of the Dog so please include a dog somewhere on your postcard. The postcards do not need to be dog themed as long as a dog appears somewhere on the postcard.
And don't forget to include your blog address on the picture side of the postcard as well.
3) What size
should my postcard be and what should it be made of?
Per the US
Postal Service, "post cards must be rectangular and be made of unfolded
and uncreased card stock. Minimum - 3.5"x5", 0.007" thick,
maximum - 4.25"x6", 0.016" thick"
It's up to you what size and materials you want to use for your postcard. However, if you choose to send postcards that are not a standard size or fragile (e.g. a collage) you may want to send the postcard in an envelope to ensure its delivery.
And please be sure to
address your postcards carefully and legibly. It would be such a shame
to have your postcard not make it to its final destination
4) What do
you mean by craft-related postcards?
Okay to
send: a) photo of a completed craft project - quilt, softie, knitting, crochet,
jewelry, etc., b) copies of a painting, illustration or picture you made, c)
collages d) handmade cards.
Postcards
can be printed on ink jet printers, Xeroxed or color Xeroxed, silk screened, block printed,
painted or drawn by hand, cut & paste together, print gocco’d, etc.
Not okay to
send: a) store bought post cards, b) anything offensive.
5) Do I need
to make 10 different postcards?
No, but you can if you want, it’s up
to you. They can be 10 identical cards, or all different.
6) Will I be
receiving postcards from the people on my list?
I set up the
swap so that you will not receive postcards from anyone on your list. I
thought it would be a nice surprise not knowing from where in the world postcards
will be coming to you .
7) Do I need to write anything on the message side of the postcard?
It's up to you. I included the blog addresses of your swappees so you can check out their site and comment on something you like or just send a "Hello and Happy New Years!" from your corner of the world.

(And please don't forget to scan or photograph your postcards before you mail them out and email me the file for the flickr postcard gallery I will be posting sometime in February.)
